BME Clearing is the company that runs the Central Counterparty (CCP) activities in Spain.
BME Clearing , whose previous corporate name was MEFF, has been and authorized in accordance with the Regulation (EU) No 648/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012, on OTC derivatives, central counterparties and trade repositories (EMIR). In accordance with EMIR, BME CLEARING has received, on 16 September 2014, the authorization of its competent authority, the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV), to provide clearing services as a Qualified Central Counterparty (QCCP). BME CLEARING is therefore included in the list of CCPs authorized to offer services and activities in the European Union, published by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
